USEFUL APPLICATION FOR VOCABULARY: IMPROVING VOCABULARY HAS NEVER BEEN EASIER!


 

WORD UP 

 

One of the most challenging aspects of improving English is learning words. This is an improved vocabulary application to be used for ELT students or someone learning the language who is fed up with memorizing words. You can use the app only to learn words, away from the grammar rules. Word Up is available for IOS and Android. 

 

 

TIPS/SUGGESTIONS 

• Initially, it asks you your level and determines words at that level. 

 

• Then it asks 48 specific words for testing you. You should do this assessment test at first because it estimates your vocabulary size and it saves words that you do not know. 

 

 

 

• You can select the language, whatever you want for showing translations. So, you can also learn the meaning of words in your mother tongue or other languages. 

 

• You can also see how the words you just learned are used in the sentence. If you want to know the translation of words, Turkish meanings are also given in the examples. 


 

 

• Rather than boring definitions, Word Up shows you short videos, it shows you how the word is used in the real world. Its data are compiled from thousands of movies, songs, tv shows, tv series, etc.  


     

 

  

 

• You can choose a time when to practice your vocabulary. And it reminds you of phone notifications. 


 


• Students can also pick a goal, so the application enables them to have reminder options in the learning process the next day, 3 days, or 7 days later. It adjusts to 7 days later when you know a word and it ensures the learning process. 

 

 

 


• There are also Discover, Games sections to learn the word better. All of these games will be beneficial to your vocabulary. So, you can remember the word more easily.   


 

 

• When you select the Discover option, you can see the word card in the middle of the screen. And you can drag the word into either the "learn" box or the "already know" box. 

 

• There is also movie and tv show boxes which are for the words you don’t know in that episode. 

 

 

• If you click on the search bottom, you can search for a word that you don’t know. We can say that the application of Word Up has a dictionary so you can only use one instead of using a lot of apps. 

 

 

• The last and most important one; when you click on the review section, there is a My Words box in there. You can add your unknown words to this box and you can upload the list of your vocabularies. 

This app can improve your vocabulary knowledge in a relaxing way. This is a suitable vocabulary app for students, ELT students, teachers, etc. You don’t just learn the words; you also experience them. You will expand your vocabularies and you will remember the words forever thanks to this app. I hope you will find it useful!
